Location
You will be staying at the Hilton Columbia Center, located in the popular and historic Congaree Vista area of the city. You will be within walking distance of many local shops and restaurants.
There are plenty of ways to get your daily dose of physical activity in Columbia. Most notable is the Three Rivers Greenway, which offers 9 1⁄2 miles of riverfront pathways where the Broad, Saluda, and Congaree Rivers meet. The Greenway includes lighted trails and boardwalks for walking, biking, and jogging. There are also several access points along the river for canoeing and kayaking.
Columbia is also home to the 22,200-acre Congaree National Park, which is the largest intact expanse of old growth bottomland hardwood forest remaining in the southeastern U.S. Hiking trails as well as a marked creek for canoeing and kayaking provide recreation opportunities at the park.
Also located near downtown Columbia is the Riverbanks Zoo and Gardens, which is home to more than 2,000 animals housed in natural habitat exhibits along the Saluda River. Just across the river, the 70-acre botanical garden is devoted to gardens, woodlands, plant collections, and historic ruins. Riverbanks has been named one of America’s top 10 zoos and the #1 travel attraction in the Southeast.
