In March 2022 the South Carolina Public Health Association (SC PHA) hosted their Annual Conference in Myrtle Beach, SC. During the conference\u2019s Awards Luncheon, four South Carolina students were presented as winners of the Maternal and Child Health Catalyst Program Poster Contest. The poster contest- in conjunction with the SC PHA- honored students from various South Carolina universities and colleges who submitted maternal and child health-focused research projects for consideration to the Annual Conference. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Upon review, the MCH Catalyst program awarded Natalie Reider from the College of Charleston first place for her project titled \u201cExamining Associations Between Youth Physical Fitness, Neighborhood Park Availability and Walkability\u201d. Second place was offered to Xingpei Zhao out of the Arnold School of Public Health at the University of South Carolina. Her project was titled \u201cIntimate Partner Violence and Antenatal Depression among Pregnant Women in A Healthy Start Program\u201d. Third place went to Sean Graham of Clemson University for his project \u201cThe Effects of Adverse Childhood Experiences on Undergraduate College Students\u201d. The MCH Catalyst Program also offered an honorable mention to Carol Shae Linton from Winthrop University for her project titled \u201cInfant Mortality in South Carolina: How Underlying Factors Play a Significant Role\u201d. Placed winners of the contest were all offered monetary prizes for their achievements.
