Each year at this convention, the SCSHA<br \/>Ambassador Award is given to honor a person with a communication disorder who has<br \/>demonstrated outstanding perseverance while also continuing to advocate for speech-language<br \/>services. This year members of the USC Aphasia Lab nominated Mr. Frederic Lyles, clinical<br \/>research participant and longtime supporter of the lab for this award. His aphasia recovery<br \/>journey depicts a story of resilience familiar to many who have been touched by aphasia. Lab<br \/>members were thrilled when Frederic was chosen to be the 2018 SC Speech-Language-Hearing<br \/>Association Ambassador<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-5b05fe6 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"5b05fe6\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-5ec8ada\" data-id=\"5ec8ada\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-32f0aa8 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"32f0aa8\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Frederic was celebrated at the SCSHA Awards Banquet and, when<br \/>asked how he felt to win the award, he replied, \u035eIt is truly a blessing!!! He will be joining us on April 19th for our Aphasia<br \/> Community Event and in May, to celebrate May is Better Speech and Hearing Month, Frederic<br \/> will be recognized at the State House and will get to meet the governor.
